Professional Biography
After almost 15 years of nursing, I am beginning a new journey as a family nurse practitioner. I will graduate in April 2014 with a Post-Masters Certificate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I graduated in August 2000 with a MSN in Parent-Child Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University.
I have almost 15 years of nursing experience. I have worked in pediatrics and pediatric critical care, including trauma and neurology at University Hospital in San Antonio and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. I have 6 years of experience as a nurse educator, teaching baccalaureate students at Texas Woman’s University patient assessment and pediatric nursing. I also taught a critical care elective course and family/group theory. Prior to entering nursing, I worked for three years in a molecular and cellular endocrinology lab at Texas A&M University.
My experiences as a bedside nurse, critical care nurse, and nurse educator have all shaped my practice to work with families and teach them about maximizing their health. My future practice will expand to provide patient and family-centered advanced practice care.
